Black History Month 2022: BLACK HISTORY MONTH 2022

A banner for Black History Month 2022, several black and brown hands reaching upwards. Text reads 'Black History Month February 2022'

Welcome to the McCarthy Library's 2022 LibGuide for the celebration of Black History Month!  This year's theme, as designated by the originating organization , the Association for the Study of African-American Life and History (ASALH), is Black Health and Wellness.  According to the ASALH:

"The theme for 2022 focuses on the importance of Black Health and Wellness. This theme acknowledges the legacy of not only Black scholars and medical practitioners in Western medicine, but also other ways of knowing (e.g., birthworkers, doulas, midwives, naturopaths, herbalists, etc.) throughout the African Diaspora. The 2022 theme considers activities, rituals and initiatives that Black communities have done to be well."

We at the McCarthy Library aim to provide informative, relevant materials that relate to this theme and to aiding our students and community in their own health and wellness journey going forward into 2022.

In the spirit of the ASALH's designated theme for this year's Black History Month, we thought it only appropriate to make sure that a link the Student Health Center be centered prominently on this year's LibGuide.
