Special Collections - Non-Circulating California Collection: Books about Napa and the Napa Valley

Introduction

In this section, you will find books that pertain specifically to the City of Napa and, more broadly, Napa Valley.  There are also a smattering of books that include Lake County, as there was a bit of overlap between Napa and Lake County with some of the books.  The valley and city have rich histories, landscapes, architecture, and stories.  You will find books on flora and fauna, as well as books on water management, roads, the Napa State Hospital, and more.  This eclectic collection has some gems that are well worth an extra look.

Napa State Hospital

Most noted for its architecture, the Napa State Hospital has garnered attention over the years.  It is still in operation, but the history of this institution really is quite fascinating.  We have a number of documents in different microcollections, but there are only a couple in the Non-Circulating Calffornia Collection covered with this LibGuide.  Here they are:

Information Pertaining to the Napa State Hospital

Title Year Location
Patient Work programs at Napa State Hospital:  A History Study (thesis) 1983 Lower Cabinet
Earl Warren Papers - Administrative Files, Governor's Office - Institutions - Hospitals - Napa (fascimile of original) 1943-1944 (original dates on original documents, not date for fascimile)
