Daniel Chacón graduated from Fresno State University and obtained the Masters in Fiction Writing at the University of Oregon. He taught in Minnesota before coming to the University of Texas at El Paso as a full professor in the year 2000. He is the author of the storybook Unending Rooms, a collection of twenty-four stories that won the 2007 Hudson Award, an annual contest supported by the Black Lawrence editorial of New York. He also published the novel And the Shadows Took Him and another collection of stories under the Chicano Chicanery title. Their stories have been translated into French and Spanish. His stories have also been published in several anthologies such as Fresh Language: Latinos Writing on the Edge; Hot: The Best Erotic Writing in Latin American Fiction; and Best of the West 2009: New Stories from the West Side of Missouri. He is co-editor of The Last Supper of Chicano Heroes: The Selected Works of Jose Antonio Burciaga.

In the barrio of Fresno, California, the Molina family is living out the Chicano version of the American Dream. Father William works on an assembly line while his wife, the well-bred beauty Rachel, stays at home to care for their three children--and to keep them off the streets.
